Good luck dining outside this summer

The number of outdoor dining patios in Boston has fallen dramatically, a Globe analysis of city data found. Al fresco tables were hailed as a silver lining of the pandemic with more than 400 restaurants erected tables in outdoor public spaces in 2021, compared with just 135 this season. And those that remain are mostly in well-to-do neighborhoods near downtown. Reporter Diti Kohli reports on the new trend.
