A 20-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl died after their car went off Route 20 in Weston and caught fire, Middlesex District Attorney Marian T. Ryan’s office said Thursday.
Weston police received a 911 call from Apple’s automated crash detection function alerting them to the crash, Ryan’s office said in a statement.
Officers arrived to find the car fully engulfed in flames in the woods just past Colpitts Road. Officers tried to put the fire out, but were unsuccessful, the statement said.
Weston fire fighters arrived to put out the fire. The man, who was the driver, and the girl, were found dead at the scene, the statement said.
The date and time of the crash was not disclosed in Thursday’s release.
The crash is under investigation by Weston police and State Police assigned to Ryan’s office.
